FOTD & Super Curly Hair!

Today my hair went super curly! Not entirely sure what happened to it but I shan't complain! Anyways, today I wore quite a neutral base colour on my lid just to keep it simple but quite a dark brown in the crease of my eyes. Like usual, I used my Naked Palettes- I really really need to be more adventurous with my eye shadows, since buying these palettes I literally cannot stop using them! That can be my new challenge, to use a wider variety of eyeshadows- at differnet times of course. Not just using 15 eyeshadows all at once! Imagine that!!! Although.... that would be an interesting challenge.
I get so side-tracked! I also used the Bourjois Bronzer on my cheeks to add some contouring and make myself a little more tanned! Let's face it- we really need summer!

Hey guys; just a quick FOTD post for you today. As you know I've been trying to blog a lot more frequently so one thing I thought I could do would be more Face of the Day posts because I never really used to write these. I just love "having" to experiment more with my make up and sharing with you guys what works for me and doesn't work with regards to my make up routine.
So this morning was gorgeously sunny, following a lovely weekend- weather wise, and so I decided to whack out the Maybelline Babylips (pink) and give that another go. I feel like it really completed my look and gave it a more spring-feel. For the eyes; I went quite simple eyeshadow wise, with quite a think eyeliner line. Please tell me someone else has seen this worryingly true  picture from Tumblr; well this is the true story behind my thick eyeliner this morning- in fact I wanted to go for a really thin line, but.... it was just one of those mornings.

Anyways; with my skin I just did my usual foundation and concealer routine and then lightly contoured my cheek bones and applied a Mac blusher to my cheeks. I do really like this look as it seems quite casual and light for spring and really cute with a little bun or ponytail!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Review

My first impressions of this foundation weren't great to be honest; I actually hated it, wore it once and discarded it at the back of my make up draw and vowed never to use it again. This all sounds very dramatic but I really didn't like the way it sat on my skin or how it left my skin for that matter.
However; I saw so many positive reviews and bloggers raving about it that I thought I'd give it one more go and actually have to admit that I've sort of fallen in love with it. It has a very high coverage; so for those days where spots have got the better of me, this foundation is perfect. It does require a lot of blending into the skin and works better building up coverage gradually as opposed to putting it all on and blending in, but if you have the time and a good foundation brush (Real Techniques Buffing Brush **Hint**) then it's ace!
I also have found that it needs a very good primer and does need touching up throughout the day with a bit of powder, but other than that I don't have any problems and would definitely recommend this foundation- probably more to those who don't have very oil skin as this didn't help with it sitting on my skin or coming off very nicely.
I think it's around the £8 region, which isn't bad for a drugstore foundation and is available in most drug stores including Boots and Superdrug.
If any of you have tried the Bourjois healthy mix concealer, I'd be very interested to know how you got on with that and whether its has as good coverage as the foundation as I'm considering making it my next cheeky purchase!

Better late than Never

With this post; I'm going to go by the motto of "better late than never". I know this palette was released in December, and I'd be lying if I said I've only just bought it, in fact the photos have been stored in my computer just waiting to be written about since the beginning of January.

Anyway; as all of you are now aware; this is the Naked 3, and oh boy isn't it beautiful! Don't you just want to swatch every colour and just stare at it. I can reassure you, I have done plenty of staring and swatching! Urban Decay have done it again with the Naked 3 and produced such a gorgeous, dreamy palette! It seems to be a lighter palette, based more on pink and rose gold than brown, although it does contain a couple of brown shades, it's more overpowered with shades of pink. Not that I have a problem with rose gold- in face it's quite the opposite.
I tend to find that Naked 3 is more useful for a base colour on my lid as the colours are a bit lighter so trickier to compose a smokey eye- although definitely still do-able. These palettes are literally faultless, they're compact, beautiful, useful and any other good adjective you can fit in the gap!
One of my favourite shades has to be Blackheart (end right) and also a couple of the lighter matte colours, which are great for subtle colours in the crease if you want a more natural eye look.
I could ramble on forever about the Naked Palettes but for the sake of your eyes not becoming square from being sat here too long, I shall end on the fact that the Naked 3 comes with samples of all four primers. This has been a great help to me as I wasn't sure whether or not to buy the primer potion and furthermore which one to choose! But after using all of them, I shall definitely be purchasing one of the primers- I'm thinking the original or 'Eden' so if any of you have tried them and have reviews please comment or leave links below!

All about the Corals

So recently I've really been trying to use more colour on my lips as I'm not very adventurous when it comes to that region of make-up. Don't get me wrong; I own lots of colourful lipsticks, I just never have the confidence to wear them out and always chicken out last minute and reach for a make up wipe as I leave the house! But this year I feel I need to be more adventurous and maybe tone down the eye make up sometimes but complete my look with a dab of colour on the lips.

Red lipstick and a bit of eyeliner can really make an effortless everyday make up look which I love on everybody else; bar myself. I feel that wearing blood red lipstick seems to make my face look even more rounder and my lips quite small, so I thought I'd try out a Coral colour and purchased a couple of the Stila Lip Crayons; one of which being "Tangerine Dream" which is the gorgeous corally/orange colour I am wearing.
I feel as though being a slight shade off red still gives that effortless effect without making my face look overly round, in addition these crayons are really easy to dab and blend and don't run too much either. I literally put them straight on my lips without a lip liner or anything. I'm probably now being tutted by all make up artists out there! But it seems to work ok for me, for now.
With this look; I went for quite simple skin with just a touch of bronzer to add a natural looking glow and a hint of the Naked 2 palette on my eyes. I also used an eye-liner pen just to add some definition to my eyes and there we have my make up which I wore today.

I think I may try and challenge myself to wear more lip colours throughout the spring to spice up my make up a little bit more and add some colour to my face. I do really love wearing the coral colour; even though I did have to constantly check I didn't have lipstick all over my teeth! It's definitely a high maintenance thing to add to my make up, so I definitely couldn't commit to it everyday, but I'll give it a good go.
